I know things bloom in May but come November they all die
Hiero shrugged at the question. "Both or either." He didn't care which. Though the answer that followed struck him as odd. "I am a Doctore. I make sure the soldiers follow the plans of the Dominus. I think though," Hiero walked to a different tree, still a little upset that he could see it so clearly. "That I will attempt to become a guard after this, since that is what you're making me do." Assuming he did his job well, his position would surely be replaced. "Or maybe I'll spend more time at the arena..." Hiero looked past the trees he was near and into the far distance. The realization that he'd have enough time to figure out what he would do, and then some, struck a chord within him that was both anger and sadness and he lashed out at the closest unfortunate tree.
And then, as if the attack on the tree had caused Hiero to notice just how late it was, his shoulders fell, and he rested his forhead against the tree he had attacked. He took one deep breath and then another. Closing his eyes, he willed himself to be back underneath the large tree in the woodlands of the Shadow Realm. He stayed that way for a long while, provided Osirus didn't say something to him. Upon opening his eyes again, it was obvious that he was still in the human's realm. "... To heal, we go to Twin Cauldrons and sit in the warm water. I'm not sure the reason behind it's ability to heal, but it is an invaluable companion for gladiators. I suppose that some must paint things... But I don't see it as a valuable skill. And toys are for children."
Hiero wasn't able to lift his head until he heard the yawn, and when he finally did, he looked at Osirus. "I guess you're tired." Hoodie still in hand, Hierodinious walked back over to the boy and sat a couple feet away. Hiero was tired, but he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep well, and so he just sat there, looking off into the distance. In the back of his mind, he wondered if his recent inability to sleep was some subconcious knowing that this was going to happen. Had he somehow sensed it? Was it even possible? Or was he just unable to sleep for some other reason and now looking far too deeply into the matter? He figured he'd never know and simply sat there with the hoodie in his lap.
